In 2011, Habanos S.A. resurrected what was commonly thought to be the strongest Cuban blend for the time they were in existence, the La Escepción. The brand is one of the oldest Cuban marcas, introduced sometime in the 1850s by owner José Gener, who also founded the Hoyo de Monterrey brand in 1865. At the time of its discontinuation in 1989, generally regarded as being due to its unpopularity, the La Escepción marca consisted of only a few vitolas.

The La Escepción Selectos Finos is a 6 1/2 x 38 Panatela released as part of the Edición Regional program for the country of Italy. Only 2,000 boxes of 25 were released and acquiring them was especially difficult with the added fact that it is illegal to ship tobacco products outside of Italy

The La Escepción Selectos Finos Cigar (Ex. Italia 2011) is an exceptional Regional Edition cigar, possibly one of the most sought after by cigar collectors worldwide.

The brand itself, La Escepción, was resurrected from oblivion by the Italian Cuban Cigar Importer Diadema s.p.a. as part of their 2011 Regional Edition for Italy. Beautifully presented in a 25 count cigar box, only 2,000 individually-numbered boxes were made, making thes Selectos Finos an extremely rare find.

Measuring 166 mm in length by 38 ring gauge, these Panetelas are outstandingly elegant. Anachronistic in every possible way, they remind us of a time when cigars used to be thin and beautiful. Expect a medium-bodied smoke with wonderful aromas notes of nuts and dark chocolate.

These cigars are ready to be smoked now but can easily be aged for a few more years, to be enjoyed in due course. Smoking time, at an easy pace, is approximately one hour and a quarter.
